Research Memo # 3

Recent studies have showed that music can define how a person feels.  Now I wonder what type in specific can really evaluate how you feel.  I have found two videos that may classify a person’s emotions.  Based on the statistics and charts from the previous memo which contain two articles, emotions may be classified.
The first video is a combination of music types all in one.  Each with its own “emotion attachment” for every music type.  For example, the theme song of jaw is a suspenseful and heart raging.  Based on the charts and statistic from the articles of memo # two, it can be concluded the emotion fear appears to be presented.  Observing this first video with the combination of music feel free to comment on it and tell what emotion you feel and why you feel that way.
The second video has two well known music artist that sing about love.  Classmates have seen the video and explain that they feel energetic and happy.  Based on article two from the previous memo, fast pacing beats are a cause and the effect is happy and energetic.  This symbolism is like to a survey and it backs of my evidence of music expressing how a person feels.  Comment on the second video as well and explain how you feel and why.
Both of videos above support my research.  Each one with its own “emotion attachment” when the music type is presented.  It is now a result and a conclusion that music can evaluate on how a person feels.  Without music the world word be boring and less productive.

Research Memo # 2

Research question: Classify what kind of emotions are classified through any music genre?
Music, Emotions, Evaluations,  evoke(Introduction)
The introduction are explains that music can evaluate how a person feels based on the follow music genre.
(Music and Emotion) Discovered, emotion, anxious, depressed, amazed, happy, relaxing, angry
Labels of emotions for music when music genre is present

Research Question: Classify what kind of emotions are classified through any music genre?
Researchers, study, history, emotions, theorize
Scientist begin to test out in the theory of music showing a persons emotions
Geneva Emotion Research group
An organization that tested the theory that a music genre can classify on how a person feels.

Music genres have many classifications.  Based on the two following articles my claim may be true.  Can someone classify the emotions a person feels when a certain type of music genre is produced.  Based on the results of the articles, it may be proven true.  Each article explains the statistics and emotions of music genres produced to evaluate on how a person feels.  Can music show what emotion you are feeling?
Article one is about what emotions classified based on music genres produced.  Majority of the articles explains what we fill when we listen to music genres.  For example, When we listen to Hip-Hop we feel energetic and we feel like we are in a great mood.  Another example is that when we listen to low beat depressing music t relating to a persons life then we can classify what the person feels.  These include frustration and sadness leading to stress.  Based on this evidence so far I'm beginning to conclude my question has already been answered.
Article two has the same contents as article one.  It states what emotions are felt and why we feel them based on the music genre provided.  Brainwaves tell us what we like and do not like and how we as people feel.  Using the keywords in the second chart, you can conclude that doing this experiment took a lot of studying and time.  Geneva Emotion Research Group is why I choice musical emotion classification to be by topic.  This organization is a group of scientist who tested the theory, Does music classify what emotions a person feels.  Using the results of their progress it can be concluded so far music does evaluate what emotion you feel based on the chart in the article.
Follow:
The two following articles have been a great use to me.  Both have data tables from previous experiments on emotions based with music genres.  Not only have I learned music genres evaluates how you feel but I learned the brain chooses to or not.  With this in mind it can be conclude music can really evaluate on how a person feels when a music genre is produced.

Musical feelings

Hypothesis:

Teenagers from Early College High School mostly agree that music as an effect on how you feel.  When a person is listening to any kind of music genre their emotions can be classified. I believe this does show how you feel because famous singers put emotions into the music while their followers might do the same.  This will show what  a person feels while listening to music.

Context:

I conducted research by doing a survey on the teen emotion classification based on the type of music genre.  Both music and emotions both have an effect on each other.  Based the survey, most teenagers listen to music when they're in a particular mood which shows it.  With this in mind this will begin to show data for my upcoming data for the charts.  My survey was directed to the teen population which shows in studies that teens have more emotional problems than adults and children.   Musics that have an effect on them the most so far are pop, hip-hop, rap, and hardcore.  Using this information I have found it will be great use for my research.

Results:

Figure-1  Analysis of Music Statistics

Females 13-18
Male 13-18
Music Defies who we are?

95% believe this is true but one person believes its not the music it’s the person

100% agree because when they all have bad day they listen to rap which expresses anger in some ways

Do you think  music can boost a teen motivations?
95% of females believe this to be  true because it gives them an energetic feeling
100% of males believe it does as well because they believe it is your emotions for the song
Have you ever sang after having a bad day to make you feel better?
yes females believe this to be true because of personal happening that had happen in the past
No because the music can define how you feel for itself

Data Analysis:

Most students who go to ECHS believe that music can really show how you feel based on the music genre you are listening.

During the survey, students claim that emotions can be classified based on the types of music a person is listening to.  For example one question from my survey was, when you listen to hip hop what mood do you feel most.  Majority of the male and female population said that they feel energetic and have full of energy.  Another example is that when the males listen to rap some feel anger based on from just having a bad day.

Both the male and female populations have the same taste in music but have different emotions towards the type of music genre.

The survey showed what kind of emotions a person felt before they listened to the certain type of music genre.  When the day is going good for either a male or female they feel happy and later they claimed listening to either pop or hip-hop.  Base on that music can really prove what a person feels.  Valuable information like this can really prove that a good day can help build a teens image.

Having music shows an increase in academic studies

Using another survey technique that was verbal I manage to get information about teens having a good day listening to music.  When teens get home they start their homework while listening to music and the next day they perform better on assignments.  Music helps stimulate the brain waves making it a lot easier for data to stay in your mind.  When a teen is in a bad mood but don't listen to an energetic type then they seem to perform poorly when it comes to assignments.

Conclusion:

Both music and emotions have an effect on each other.  Teenagers agree that music can show what your feeling based on the music genre.  Studies still show that this still can be proven through further studies.

Follow up:

More data needs to be collected.  I will give out more surveys for peoples honest opinions about the subject.  When I review the data, I will compare it to the last survey that was given out to teenager and see if there is a change of the pattern.
